The Aladino Cameroon Reserva is a bit unique among Cameroon cigars in that the wrapper, binder, and filler are all Honduras grown, Cameroon-seed tobacco. This cigar is issued only in one size: 52 x 6 toro.
Initially, it seems to be a little dry – wrapper cracked upon the first cut. No surprise given the fragility of the Cameroon wrapper. But that doesn’t persist as the cigar holds together throughout the smoke. First third had plenty of white pepper, especially on the retrohale. After a few puffs, a cherry note appeared, then went away. So far, it wasn’t as sweet as I had expected, but still quite pleasant. In the second third, salted caramel emerges! Also, a bit of leather. The pepper recedes into the background. Nice, rich smoke, solid construction, good burn line, and solid ash. Medium body, and not very complex. The final third ramps up to a more full strength cigar, with the caramel note remaining.
Rating: 7.7. I wouldn’t call this one exceptional, but it is a very good cigar with a rather unique flavor.
Would I smoke it again? Yes.
